"One of the best ways to improve a community is through a good education. Educated kids grow to be productive members of our community" says Dr. David Golden. "This program is our way of partnering with our schools, contributing resources they need during these difficult economic times. If every business just does a small amount, it will make a difference."
The school years are a very important time in a child's life. However, often times one of the most important learning tools may be overlooked — a child's vision. Vision disorders are the fourth most common disability in the United States and the most prevalent handicapping condition in children, according to the Review of Optometry. Common symptoms of vision problems in children are: decreased reading comprehension, loosing place when reading or skipping lines, squinting, and eye rubbing. These signs signal the need for a comprehensive eye examination.
"Golden Optometric Group wants to encourage success in school," says Dr. Golden. "Children with uncorrected vision conditions or eye health problems face so many barriers in life...academically, athletically, and socially." To promote eye health, Golden Optometric Group is again presenting our program entitled "It pays to get A's."
The program runs during the school year September 2012-June 2013. When students bring in their report cards to the West Covina or the Whittier offices of Golden Optometric Group, they will receive 1 raffle ticket for every "A" they earn. A drawing will then be held in September 2013, and a laptop computer will be awarded to a student and his or her corresponding teacher. You do not need to be a patient to enter.
In addition to the lap top give-a-ways, names will be randomly drawn from all the entries for 10 $25 Best Buy Gift Cards to be given away at the end of the promotion.
Golden Optometric has proudly served our communities for 50 years and continues to provide outstanding quality eye care and eyewear.
Congratulations to our 2012 "It Pays to Get A's" Winners!

Golden Optometric is always looking for new products that may enhance our patient's vision. We now offer "DRIVEWEAR", a type of Transitions lens that changes depending on light conditions, offered by Younger Optics. This is what the manufacturer says about DRIVEWEAR lenses:
"In the past, clear eyewear was enough. In bright light conditions, polarized sunwear was enough. This is no longer true. Today our lives are strongly influenced by the automobile, which has changed the way we experience the outdoors. We need a third category of lenses in our modern, automobile-centered world. Drivewear.
Drivewear lenses are capable of sensing and reacting to varying light conditions both outside and behind the windshield of the car. From bright sunlight accompanied by intense, blinding glare, to overcast inclement conditions, Drivewear lenses provide the wearer with the appropriate visual solution.
Drivewear lenses provide glare protection through polarization and enhance and protect vision through photochromics which respond to both visible and UV light. By combining the strengths of two of the most important technologies in eyewear today we have developed the lens of tomorrow, Drivewear."
Stop by one of our offices anytime and ask one of our trained technicians to demonstrate the DRIVEWEAR lens for you. You won't believe the difference!
Someone was once quoted as saying "A well parented child is a well bandaged child." If your child leads a busy active life, then this special is for YOU!
FOR A LIMITED TIME, our Whittier and West Covina offices are offering a "second pair discount" of 50% off on a complete pair of children's glasses when you purchase both pairs the same day*. If you've got kids in glasses, you know how important a back up pair truly is! Come on in and get a great deal plus the peace of mind that your child will always be able to "See Clearly"!
